She has a quiet demeanor but has brisk movement when she is in the arena. You will notice when you meet her that she only has one eye. That doesn't stop her! She enjoys children and loves treats and attention!

Meet Prize! Prize's has a full name, "Welcome Suprise." Beau

DOB 1/1/2002

Beau is a gorgeous chestnut Quarter Horse, who came to High Hurdles in April of 2022. His former owner owned and trained him from the time he was a year old and they went on many adventures together. Beau was his hunting and partner and he even did a couple of years at the Erie County Fair in their mounted patrol unit. Beau quickly become a favorite at High Hurdles because of his gentle and kind personality, his smooth easy going gaits and because he likes to talk to everyone that goes by. You will be sure to hear him when you are at the barn!

Rapunzel

Rapunzel came to High Hurdles in August of 2022 and quickly became a loved member of the team. She is a spunky little halflinger mare, and at 13.3hh, she is the shortest! Rapunzel loves to work and is happiest when she has a job to do, like teaching our independent riders. What Rapunzel lacks in height, she makes up for in personality, she is a goofy girl and loves attention from anyone. Before she came to High Hurdles, Rapunzel was owned by a family and ridden by their kids on trail rides and in gaming shows so she comes with a little bit of experience in those avenues!

Ramona

DOB 1/1/2000

Ramona is a pony that came to us in 2023 from a neglectful situation needing her wounds cared for and terribly underweight. She has learned so much and gotten healthier since being here and is a favorite for her sweet personality. Ramona is calm and steady but can pick up the energy when she needs to!

Remembering Chance

Chance, a Shire/TB cross is the oldest member of the High Hurdles crew with decades of experience to teach our riders. She has been in the program since 2016. In her younger years she was an impressive dressage horse and eventer and has taught many people how to ride well. Chance is very well-behaved, loves to go on slow trail rides and teach small children independence. At her age she is not up for much speed, but still does her best to please her riders. We love her and hope you will too!

Indy

DOB 1/1/2002

Indy is a gorgeous Missouri Foxtrotter who came to us through a friend of High Hurdles. She has wonderfully smooth gaits, and is calm, quiet and protective of her riders. She loves a good snack and bossing around all of her buddies!

Canyon

DOB 1/1/2007

Canyon is a big, bold Paint Horse who joined us in September of 2024 and quickly became a favorite among our independent riders! Like many of our horses, he’s had quite the journey—first as a ranch horse, then as a mounted police and trail horse. Now, he enjoys being pampered by our riders while teaching them horsemanship skills.
