Adaptive Riding Lessons

Eight lessons, one hour each, once per week in a session. Lessons are tailored to the interests and needs of each rider and designed to help a rider achieve their personal goals.

School Groups

Six, 2-hour lessons, once per week. Students will take riding lessons similar to our adaptive riding programming, as well as learn about horsemanship and horse care in the barn and classroom.

Ground Based Lessons

Eight lessons, one hour each, once per week. Ground-based lessons are tailored to what each person is interested in pursuing, whether it be directly with the horses, or learning in the classroom! 

Field Trips

We offer one-time visits to High Hurdles for school groups, Girl Scout Troupes, 4-H troops, home school groups and more. A field trip may include hands on learning with the horses, riding, classroom activities and more. 

Adaptive Riding Lessons

  • Description: Designed for those seeking to improve physical health, emotional well-being, or mental health through structured riding and interaction with horses. Our 8-week sessions run from March to November each year, and riders may sign up for multiple sessions dependent on availability. Lessons are tailored to the interests and needs of each rider and include such activities as grooming, tacking and learning riding skills, as well as games and activities designed to help a rider achieve their personal goals. On -horse lessons through various riding exercises will activate and strengthen target muscle groups. Riding skills are learned at the walk, trot, or canter depending on the level of student and horse. Students are encouraged to be as independent as possible as safely possible.
  • Price: $400/8 week session
  • Payment Options: Out of pocket payment, reimbursement through OPWDD funding, FSS funding, limited scholarships may be available.
  • What’s Included: 8 lessons, one hour each, once per week. Lessons will have up to three riders each. Riders in a session are invited to participate in our Spring or Fall Horse Shows at no extra cost.

School Groups

  • Description: Special program opportunities are available to school groups to integrate into their school curriculum. Up to 12 riders may participate in a 6 week, 2 hours per week program during the school year. Students will take riding lessons similar to our adaptive riding programming, as well as learn about horsemanship and horse care in the barn and classroom.
  • Price: $600/student/6 week session
  • What’s Included: 6, 2 hour lessons, once per week. Lessons will include a rotation of riding, classroom activities and barn activities.

Group Based Lessons

  • Description: We offer off-horse horsemanship lessons to those who are unable to participate on-horse for various reasons. A person might exceed our weight limit policy, their disability might contraindicate them from being safely able to participate on horse, or they may choose to be off horse for personal reasons. Our ground-based lessons are tailored to what the person is interested in pursuing, whether it be learning about horse care, learning to lead and interact with the horses in that way, doing crafts and activities in the classroom or other activities. Off-horse lessons focus on trust building and learning horse body language and behavior while encouraging independence.
  • Price: $400/8 week session
  • What’s Included: 8 lessons, one hour each, once per week. Participants may be in a group of up to four, and may participate with on-horse participants depending on appropriateness of the group.
